The Topshop x Cara Delevingne holiday campaign is out, and I’ve never been more excited about the cold winter months. This look is one of my favorites from the campaign. Novelty tights are a huge trend right now that I can’t wait to sport underneath my dresses this holiday season. The tights matched with the gold dress are absolutely NYE perfection. Okay, so maybe I’m planning a little too far ahead. Wake me up when December ends? Watch the video featuring Delevingne here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UV8nQwfGDDI
First things first, she’s the realest. Alexa Chung truly earns her title of “It Girl” consistently stepping out in super-chic-yet-effortless looks. Her monogrammed Burberry blanket poncho is quite possibly my favorite thing in fashion right now, and many fashionable celebrities would agree. This poncho has been seen on fashion heavyweights like SJP, Olivia Palermo, Cara Delevingne, and Rosie Huntington-Whitely over the last few months. Take this and add some Chung essentials such as: tomboyish outerwear, a boxy bag and some kick-ass ankle booties and Viola! You have this killer outfit. Also, I would like to add, that these are not just ankle booties, but LEOPARD ankle booties. Not only did I read a quote yesterday on Pinterest where Jenna Lyons of J.Crew called leopard a neutral (aka a must have always), but Zara just released a leopard booties on its website that sold out instantly. Yeah, go get yourself a pair.
This look is everything. Girls, when trying this at home, proceed with caution. Some tips to pull it off like a Fanning? Keep the length of the sheer dress in the midi to long range, create as much coverage as you can underneath while showing some tasteful skin (absolutely no bellybuttons) and keep accessories to minimum – only a clutch and chunky heels needed.
She just gets it. Collared dresses are very 60’s, and this year, mod prints and cuts were all over the Fall and Winter runways. Her basic black tights and schoolgirl approved heels make this look an autumn-on-the-east-coast dream. Add an oxblood bag (last week I confessed my oxblood obsession with you) and you have yet another chic and flawlessly pulled together outfit from this pop princess.
I must confess, I’m seriously digging this 50 Shades of Grey actress’s look lately. She’s effortless and just, cool. Hollywood could always use more of that (because who needs another high maintenance and unattainable celebrity style?). I mean, her sunnies are Madewell-esque and I’m pretty sure I just bought the same camo jacket at J.Crew two months ago. Add a graphic tee and ankle booties that could very well be found at Lucky Brand or Free People, and you have a look that can be easily replicated. (Oh, and FYI, sister companies J.Crew and Madewell both give stellar student discounts, as if you needed another reason to shop...).
Was this a red carpet movie premiere look for her new film Interstellar or was this Anne Hathaway’s “best costume” winning “high fashion mother nature” Halloween outfit? Either way, it’s gorgeous and it’s Rodarte. Needless to say, she’s come a long way since her Princess Diaries days and I don’t hate it
And 2 Celebrity Don’ts of the Week… #1 Gretchen Wilson
The 2014 CMA Awards brought a lot of great red carpet looks from country stars like Carrie Underwood. We only wish she would have clued her fellow country singer in on the dress code for the night. I get it Gretchen, you’re not a high maintenance girl... but, even for one night, leave the ripped jeans at home. After all, Bonfire-chic will never be a thing. *face palm* (I MEAN, IT’S ONLY ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT NIGHTS OF THE YEAR IN YOUR CAREER, NBD OR ANYTHING!) Okay, rant over.
#2 Amanda Bynes
Dear Amanda, self-hatred is not a good look... on anyone.
