I don’t know about you, but I’m getting a little tired of skater skirts. Embrace the latest trend and make a statement this spring in a full midi-skirt! A full skirt is the perfect way to transition to warmer weather without committing to shorts or exposing too much leg. Not sure how to rock this more daring look? Not to worry! I have some tips on how to style and choose the best full midi-skirt for you!
When it comes to a full skirt, one of the most important aspects is length. To ensure a flattering fit, choose a midi that finishes below the knee, towards the slimmest part of your calf. A full skirt that is too short will cut your leg length in half, while a skirt that is too long may overwhelm your figure. If you find the perfect skirt that’s not quite the right length, don’t be afraid to get it hemmed! The extra investment could make a huge difference to your overall look.
Full midi-skirts come in a variety of colors, prints, and materials to suit your individual style. For spring, try embracing a bolder, perhaps floral print. Or, choose a jewel-toned solid color and pair it with a patterned cropped tee. Not ready to commit to a print but want something a little more exciting than a solid? Try a more metallic shade such as silver or gold. Also, don’t be afraid to mix and match patterns! For the skirt, stick to a water-color or painterly print but pair it with a more minimalistic print on top.
To achieve the iconic full-midi look, choose a skirt made from a substantial material. If the material is too thin, your skirt may lay flat or be too flowy. The right material will keep its full shape when you stand, but move with you while you’re strutting down the street. For chillier weather, try a skirt made of wool or even leather. For the spring, a thicker cotton or scuba fabric is ideal!
As for accessories, I would say less is more! Choose one piece such as a bracelet, necklace, or belt, but let the skirt make the statement. To elongate your legs, wear your full-midi with a pair of high pumps. For a simpler everyday look (or if you’re blessed with long legs), you can’t go wrong with a pair of flats.
You are now fully equipped to wear this new trend with confidence. So when you’re doing your spring shopping, ditch the overdone skater, and try a full-midi!
